As a singer-songwriter, Annette has released 2 albums and is expected to continue with new releases in 2022. Starting in 2017, when Annette recorded her debut EP titled ‘All Our Achilles Heels’ in Nashville with Grammy winning producers Scott & Ed Cash who have produced Us The Duo, Annette has since gone on to record another album “Song For The Underdog” and also performed at multiple festivals including Baybeats. Since the album launch, Annette has performed her music live in front of more than 100,000 people cumulatively, including her solo show titled “Annette Lee: All-In-One” at the Esplanade Theatre in Apr 2022.

2017 - All Our achilles heels

Album Introduction:
Why didn't Achilles' mother just dip him again into the water holding the other heel? The story of Achilles goes that when he was a baby, his mother dipped him in the River Styx, which offered powers of invulnerability. However, as she held Achilles by the heel, his heel was not washed over by the water of the magical river. So why didn't she just dip him again? Perhaps she simply forgot? Or perhaps Homer (the author of the Achilles story) understood that Achilles needed a weakness in order for his readers to identify with Achilles.

Whichever the case, its undeniable that weakness is what defines us as human. And just when we think we're perfect, like Achilles, we're then undone by others' mistakes - Annette feels that in this world that celebrates strength, we're starting to lose our ability to deal with inevitable weaknesses. And that is what her debut EP is about: It is about recognising our weakness, because we must be true to ourselves. It is about being unashamed of our weakness, so that we can encourage others with our journey. And most importantly, it is about embracing our weakness, so that we can find strength to overcome.

2020 - song for the underdog

Album Introduction:
Have you ever noticed that many good storylines often involve a small weak character eventually triumphing against a bigger bully? Every classic good vs evil, david vs goliath story always seem to have these elements. Invariably, when given a choice of two characters, we often end up rooting for the underdog. Annette has always wondered why do we always want the overlooked, bullied and downtrodden individual to succeed. She wonders if it’s because deep down, to a certain extent, in different parts of our lives, we know we fall short. In fact, in some areas, it seems that we’re winding up last - In one way or another, we are an underdog.

Society these days is busy glorifying only the success stories; instagram celebrates the best of every human, but no one is celebrating the underdog. Inspired by the story of the tortoise and hare from Aesop’s fables, this album is meant for all of us who seem to be lagging in the race of life. The entire album is written as an encouragement to the underdogs of life, the ones whom society seems to have overlooked and forgotten - that there is hope, victory for all of us who are the tortoises in the race of life.
